The necessity of creating patterns is what I think about when making my work. We are drawn to consistency, repetition, and certainty in our language and actions. Lately, my artwork has been grounded in the grid. The grid is a prompt to orient lines, colors, and shapes around a pre-existing framework. An equally essential part of functioning in our world though, is to deconstruct and rebuild forms into something new. These interests have drawn me toward mediums that require some form of grid - like weaving and embroidery.
